Why Hire a Pro?
Safety First
We never trench without confirmed utility locates. Buried line strikes are dangerous — we don't cut corners.
Precise Depth
The right depth for your application matters. We know the requirements and execute them consistently.
Clean Work
We manage spoil carefully and restore the surface so your yard or site isn't left a muddy mess.
Our Trenching Process
A trench looks simple until you consider what's already in the ground. Middle Tennessee soil hides shallow limestone ledge and, in older Nashville neighborhoods, plenty of unmarked buried utilities. That's why every job starts with confirmed 811 locates and a clear plan. We dig to the exact depth your application needs, keep spoil managed, and leave the surface restored — not a muddy mess.
1. Locate & plan
We confirm 811 utility locates are complete and mark the run. Nothing gets cut until buried lines are flagged — this is non-negotiable.
2. Set depth & width
We match trench depth and width to your application: below frost line for water lines, code depth for electrical, proper fall for drainage. Your plumber, electrician, or utility contractor's spec drives it.
3. Dig clean & stage spoil
We cut a consistent, clean trench and stage spoil off to the side so the excavated material doesn't refill the trench or bury other work.
4. Install window
We open the trench so your trade can drop in pipe or conduit, then coordinate the timing so it isn't left open longer than needed.
5. Backfill & compact
We backfill in lifts and compact as we go to prevent settling, following engineered-fill specs where required.
6. Restore surface
The final surface is graded smooth and left ready for sod, seed, or hardscape restoration.
Equipment & Capabilities
We run a compact track loader with a trencher attachment for clean linear cuts and bucket attachments for spot digging and backfill. The machine is compact enough to fit through gates and down side yards on tight Nashville lots, yet it produces consistent, code-depth trenches for utility and drainage work. Tracks give us traction on soft, rained-out ground and on grades.
- Trencher attachment for consistent 8–18" utility cuts
- Bucket attachments for wider or deeper drainage trenches
- Depth control for water, electrical, gas, and drain lines
- Backfill and lift-compaction capability
- Compact footprint for tight urban and subdivision lots
What Affects the Cost
We quote each run after seeing the site. These factors set the price, and we walk through them with you up front:
- Total trench length
- Required depth and width
- Soil conditions and shallow limestone rock
- Site access and obstacles along the run
- Backfill, compaction, and engineered fill specs
- Surface restoration after the trench is closed
